If you are living or staying abroad and have to pay taxes in Portugal, know that you can do this easily through a bank transfer by following a few simple rules.

For the Portuguese Tax Administration to be able to identify your payment, your bank must provide ALL the information below during the transfer:
TIN: 600 084 779
Name of the creditor: Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira
Bank account number: 83 69 27
IBAN: PT50 0781 0019 00000008369 27
Name of the bank: Agência de Gestão da Tesouraria e da Dívida Pública – IGCP, E.P.E.
SWIFT Code: IGCPPTPL
Quote the Portuguese Tax Identification Number (NIF in Portuguese) included in your payment slip
You must also include the payment reference number that appears on the payment slip (this number is specific for each tax payment and cannot be used for more than one payment)
Failure to comply with these payment instructions will result in the impossibility of allocating the amount transferred to your payment slip.
It is advisable not to combine more than one payment document in the same bank transfer. And don't leave it until the last day of the payment deadline to make the transfer! Making the payment at least two days before the deadline is recommended.
For further information, you can also consult official leaflets on the “Portal das Finanças” website, contact the Portuguese Tax Authority call centre (CAT - Centro de Atendimento Telefónico, available at +351 217 206 707, working days from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM), send an e-mail using the application form on the e-balcão service or go to your local tax office (Serviço de Finanças).
